About the Artist

Jacqueline Boyd has been exposed to commercial art her entire adult life, running the daily operation of the family graphics art business for over 25 years. Ten years ago her desire for a formal fine art training brought her to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pa., where she received several awards and graduated with a certificate in painting.

Working in oil and acrylic, her painting style varies from painterly realism to abstraction. She is inspired by the shapes and colors of everyday objects, familiar scenes and memories of places traveled.

She begins a painting with an idea or a concept but adapts to the direction that the painting takes. She may start a painting with a brush and switch to the palette knife sometime during the process. It is this interaction with the paint, the brush and the palette knife that she enjoys the most, the moment when something unexpected happens and she decides to go with it and follow the path where it leads. These surprises are part of the mystery of how brush, paint and palette knife can produce such a compelling result. The painting dictates the outcome.

Her most amazing discovery is the power of one color note touching another to create form and when the least amount said, says more than spelling it out. This is the dialog spoken between the painting and painter leading to unexpected results and a dynamic for exciting paintings.

She is represented by The William Ris Gallery in Stone Harbor, NJ

Her memberships include: Associate Artist, Noyes Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Art Alumni Association, Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Society of New Jersey Artists, Hammonton Arts Center, NJ Chapter of The American Artists Professional League.

She exhibits in the New Jersey-Philadelphia area.

Her paintings are in private and corporate collection.

Jacqueline Boyd Fine Art Studio

I have recently moved from the Brigantine studio / gallery to a working studio (no gallery) on the mainland. The Brigantine studio / gallery was a wonderful experience. The summer art shows where well received and a excellent venue for showing my own work. At this time, I want to focus all of my energy on my painting, take advantage of exhibit opportunities and participate in workshops. I would like to thank everyone who has supported the events in the Brigantine studio. I look forward to seeing you in the future. My website will be getting a fresh new look and is expected to launch in early May. Future exhibits and announcements will be posted on the site.
